The community of Upper Gwestydd and the wider Newtown area are mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Aled Llewelyn Woosnam, who passed away unexpectedly on Friday, 2nd January 2026, at the age of 30. His passing has brought profound sadness to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Aled was a much-loved son of Gareth and Delyth, who cherished him deeply and were immensely proud of the person he was. He was a devoted and loving brother to Geraint, sharing a close bond built on support, loyalty, and shared memories. Aled was also a dear friend to Geraint’s partner, Eleri, and held a special place in the hearts of his extended family as a beloved nephew and cousin. His loss is felt widely among a circle of friends who valued his presence, humor, and companionship.
Those who knew Aled remember him as kind, genuine, and full of warmth. He had a quiet strength and an approachable nature that made people feel comfortable and welcome. Aled formed meaningful connections with those around him, and his friendships were marked by sincerity, trust, and care.
